The ArMI Bittersweet Brigade will meet twice a month for Winter Control of Woody Invasives as weather permits. Our first outing successfully cut very large vines growing near the swampy area at McClennen.

About the event
The ArMI Bittersweet Brigade will meet twice a month for Winter Control of Woody Invasives as weather permits. Our first outing successfully cut very large vines growing near the swampy area at McClennen.
Bittersweet is our prime target, but other woody invasives will be fair game, depending on the site. McClennen for example has a lot of multiflora rose in addition to bittersweet, so we will clip back, bag berries, (and perhaps pop out the root crown where site conditions allow). Other possible locations include the Ed Burns Arena and Crusher Woodlands.

NOTE: Waivers must be signed each year so send a new signed waiver for 2024 events.
Winter Bittersweet Removal When: Thursdays 1-3pm Jan 11, Feb 8, March 7; (2024) Where: McClennen Park (unless notified otherwise) - meet in the parking lot Equipment: sturdy gloves - eye protection - water - loppers - bow or garden saw - hand pruners - shovel - weed wrench or equivalent Looking forward to another successful winter taking advantage of die back to get at hard to reach invasives.
